day 20: soccer and spinach
for whatever the reason, i slept in this morning until 9am. i didn’t mean to, but it happened. after a delicious breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes, i planned for math this afternoon and then read a little bit.
lit: good, worked with maycol, erick, and mayquelin, again. they drew the pictures for the books they have been writing.
math: funny, but good. i worked with armando for addition and subtraction. he was super hesitant to do large problems (like 15-12 = ?) but i made him do it, anyway. i think it’s good for him. i know i definitely appreciate all the people that pushed me hard in math when i was a kid.
after math, i played soccer with the kids for a full hour. it was tight. soccer in flip flops is hard, but PD josh made it look incredibly easy. go figure.
in english, i figured out that our language is incredibly tough and in some cases impossible to try to explain. i’m very thankful to have learned it first off. but i’m in the awkward limbo when my english and spanish are both very bad, and if i had a few more weeks down here, it’d be the time that my spanish becomes excellent. but unfortunately, i’m stuck with speaking broken english and spanish. searching for any word in any language is a common occurance for me nowadays.
dinner. incredible. i made spinach and cut up some tomatoes for my pasta. it was so good to have some green leafy stuff in my diet. i will sleep well tonight. also, i got a second helping of just spinach and cheese. haha mildly gross, but so good.
we had a very long logistics meeting tonight, and now i’m off to bed. estoy muy cansado.
paz,
nica fun fact: the coffee down here is sweeter. it’s because nica rocks.
